Profit Akzo strongly falls back on (video)

July 2003 13.28 ARNHEM - the chemieconcern Akzo noblely has booked a
nettowinst over the second trimester of this year of 180 millions
euro, what nearly agrees to the expectation of most of the analysts.
The result is 20 per cent lower than the same period in 2002nd
Akzo noblely Friday communicated that all components under busy stands
as a result of wisselkoersschommelingen and pension costs. The
concern states that it is adapt the costs to smaller sales. The
number of employees has decreased with approximately 1500 to 66.360.
the turnover decreased less hard than the profit, with 7 per cent up
to 3.4 billion euro. Especially the sales of medecines fell back
on (14 per cent), because of competition in the United States.
For the rest of the year Akzo foresee no real improvement in the
circumstances. The expectation remains that the nettowinst over
