Banks more strongly lean on interest
Spent: 22 December 2003,13:26
AMSTERDAM - banks lean more and more on income interest.
In 2002, the Dutch banks booked together net 26.7 billion euro
to interest income. In 2000, the difference was between paid and
received compensation for lending money still 23.4 billion euro.
Dat staat in het Statistisch Bulletin van De Nederlandsche Bank
(DNB), dat maandag is verschenen.
Banks lend money from to customers, but do not have that money
zomaar on stock in the kluis lie. They use saving of
other customers or lend on the capital market. Het verschil tussen de
kapitaalmarktrente en de rente die banken rekenen aan klanten is
opgelopen tot meer dan 30 procent. The banks have the lower interest
that they pay on the capital market not entirely charged
their tariffs, write Dutch central bank.
Moreover banks lean more and more on mortgages then
credits business. Mortgages produce more money than lower
interest on loans to companies. Daarnaast kunnen banken
makkelijker aan geld komen, omdat mensen meer geld op hun
spaarrekening zetten.
Spaarrekeningen are for the banks a relatively cheap form
to attract that against a higher interest money is from at
to put. The average tariff for a spaarrekening was in October
2.75 percent. Dutch central bank dread in two years the average amount remainder
a spaarrekening with eenderde incurs of 6000 to 8000 euro.
is for the third consecutive year that Dutch considerable
doorsparen, thus the supervision holder.
End years ninety was interest for banks correctly less
important profit source. This way provisions for placements were
important. In 2000, during the peak on impact grants,
the Dutch banks quoted much income provisions -
and sales of shares. In that year amounted to net
provisiebaten 12.9 billion euro. In 2002, then the beurshausse
had disappeared, was that still 10.6 billion euro.
If banks can preserve high interest income, the question is.
Dutch central bank gives the mortgage market in the same bulletin to that
last months cool down is. In September 2002 grew
mortgage market with 14 per cent, clears a year later was the increase
clear halved up to 6.2 percent. The question not only decreases,
banks also sharper require couples to the house purchasers.
