Yukos will pay part belastingschuld

July 2004 17.14 MOSCOWS - the Russian olieconcern Yukos will pay this
month a part of its belastingschuld. The company kondigde
Wednesday to that the provisional up to 1.3 billion dollar wants
satisfy of the attack of 3.4 billion dollar concerning 2000th Yukos
within ' a reasonable period ' to have been prepared to do more
payments. The largest oil producer of Russia will say then to
own more debts must contract if property must sell. In sum Yukos
must pay almost 7 billion dollar to taxes still due over the years
2000 and 2001 because regional belastingvrijstellingen would be
abused. Many suspect however that Yukos are settled up for the
political ambitions of its former top man Michail Chodorkovski.
Against Chodorkovski at present a process because of fraud and
tax evasion runs. Yukos conducted the previous weeks with the
Russian authorities pokerspel concerning the debts. The debt of
3.4 billion dollar over 2000 would have had be satisfied actual last
week Wednesday already, but after gone of the deadline it remained
especially quiet. Yukos offered the Tax and Customs

8 billion. At direct collection of all debts, Yukos nearly
certain bankruptcy will go. That would mean a large slap for
Russian oil production, which is for a fiftieth dependent on Yukos.
