Fight between search engines becomes violenter
BERKELEY - the Internet search engine Ask Jeeves has been
taken over by the American television - and Internet venture
IAC/InterActive for 1.85 billion dollar. That corresponds to 1.4
billion euro. With the adoption the concern hopes the fight
manages go with market LEADERS Yahoo, Google and the search engine of
Microsoft. This made IAC/InterActive confessed Monday.
The mediaconcern IAC/InterActive are conducted medium magnate
Barry Diller. The venture operates on the Internet with among
others the restaurant search engine CitySearch, the datingsite
Match.com and Internet travel office Expedia. According to the
expectations Ask Jeeves to these Internet sites are coupled to get in
this way more advertisement income and more reputation to get.
The Internet sites under management of IAC/InterActive get on
average 44 millions visitors per month.
