No agreed UN concerning management Internet
AMSTERDAM - special Vn-commissie which has kept himself
the previous months busy with the drawing up of a recommendation
concerning the management of a number of computers that a large part
of already the date movement regulates by means of Internet, have not
been possible agree. In Thursday in Brussels a report submitted
Vn-werkgroep concerning the management of the Internet (UNWGIG) have
established four alternatives, among which the maintenance of the
current system without independent supervision holder.
Recently the American government made confessed that she wants
carry the control concerning a large part of the Internet movement not
concerning to a UN organisation. Thirteen so-called ' root
servers ' are supervised by of the ICANN (Internet Corporation for
Assigned names and Numbers), which the assignment of field names
registers 260 others as com and and manages. THE ICANN fall for
its part under the American ministry of trade. Control
concerning the root servers involves control concerning a large part
of the computer movement by means of Internet. Because of the
increased importance of Internet and with that linked the national
security interests the US want keep the supervision of the Internet
call centres in own hand.
Different international importance organisations have turned
themselves the previous years against the central role which the US
have themselves toegeëigend at the supervision of the Internet.
Proposals presented in November on Vn-top concerning Internet
and telecommunication will be discussed Thursday in Brussels.
