Legal downloading music tripled
ZURICH - it goes well with the legal music on Internet.
In first half of 2005 the number of legal gedownloade has
worldwide tripled songs with respect to previous year up to 180
millions. That becomes clear from figures which the
international line organisation of plate societies IFPI has made
Thursday confessed.
According to the IFPI the increasing popularity of broadband
Internet helps legal downloading. The number of illegally shared
music files had only increased since January with 3 per cent.
Still 900 millions songs is nevertheless get in by means of
programmes such as Kazaa.
"if people be caught now frightened are or realise that
uitwisselprogramma's can be detrimental for their computer - their
attitude changes and that is well news for the complete music
industry", said director John Kennedy.
THE IFPI try push back the piracy. Since 2003 14,227
matters have been announced in twelve countries, among which the
Netherlands. Hundreds of contraveners have had pay already fines
of average 3000 euro.
According to the IFPI music sales have decreased since 1997 with
40 per cent. The organisation blames that especially illegal for
downloading.
